Frédéric Despars
Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Despars is Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Labopharm Inc. Mr. Despars brings over 14 years of business and legal expertise to this position and is responsible for overseeing all legal matters for the Company.

Prior to joining Labopharm, Mr. Despars served as Vice President, Legal Affairs of Videotron from 2006 to 2008, a subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., having spent the previous 5 years as Senior Director, Legal Affairs of Quebecor Inc., where he was responsible for overseeing all legal matters relating to financing, mergers & acquisitions, and special projects of the Quebecor group. Prior to joining Quebecor, Mr. Despars was an associate with Clifford Chance in Paris from 2000 to 2001 and with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin in Montreal from 1994 to 2000.

Mr. Despars holds licences in both Common Law and Civil Law from the University of Ottawa. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration from the Hautes Études Commerciales (Montréal), and a MBA from Laval University. He is a member of the Quebec Bar as well as a Certified Management Accountant and, in 2005, he was recognized as one of the Top 40 Corporate Counsel under 40 across Canada according to Lexpert Magazine and the National Post.
