Licensing and Distribution Partners

We believe that partnering with companies that can support the commercialization of our products will result in a mutually beneficial relationship that can maximize the opportunity for both parties. Our current collaborations have already produced strong partnerships with leaders in their respective fields.

Labopharm is seeking partners to commercialize the following products:

once-daily formulation of tramadol: Our lead product, a once-daily formulation of tramadol (based on our CONTRAMID® technology), is currently being marketed in 19 countries around the world, including the following: U.S., Canada, major European markets and Australia. We are rolling out this product on a region by region basis and currently have partnering opportunities available in the following regions: Germany, Scandinavia, Netherlands, Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

OLEPTRO™ (Novel Once-Daily Formulation of Trazodone for the Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder): We have developed a novel once-daily formulation of trazodone hydrochloride (based on our CONTRAMID® technology) that has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. In Canada, our novel trazodone formulation is currently under regulatory review and we expect a decision to be rendered before the end of 2010. We are seeking worldwide licensing partner(s), excluding Europe, India and Japan..

INTELLITAB™: Our INTELLITAB™ technology platform provides for the controlled release of single and combination drug medications while mitigating the risk of “dose dumping”, providing the opportunity to develop controlled release medications with physical barriers that minimize the risk of intentional abuse or accidental misuse. INTELLITAB™ does not require potentially non-therapeutic additives (such as antagonists or irritants) that might impact the therapy or endanger the health of the patient, or chemical analogues, that might reduce the efficacy of a clinically proven drug molecule. Importantly, INTELLITAB™ has the ability to deliver one or more drugs (i.e. combination products) with differing release profiles. INTELLITAB™ has applicability to opioids, narrow therapeutic index drugs, stimulants, and other products. We are currently seeking partners to co-develop products and/or license our technology or products we are developing using this technology.

DDS-08B: Abuse/Misuse-Deterrent Formulation of Oxycodone-Acetaminophen: We are developing a twice-daily abuse and misuse-deterrent formulation of the combination analgesic oxycodone-acetaminophen based on our INTELLITAB™ technology platform. We have completed a pharmacokinetic study with positive results. We are currently seeking co-development and commercialization partners.

DDS-06E: SN-38: We are developing a novel treatment for colorectal cancer using our proprietary micellar POLYMERIC NANO-DELIVERY SYSTEMS™ (PNDS™) technology to promote safe, oral administration of SN-38. Oral administration of SN-38, the preferred route of drug administration for many later stage cancer patients, avoids toxic SN-38-Glucoronide formation and therefore may avoid the dose limiting diarrhea associated with irinotecan. Oral DDS-06E has also shown superior tolerability and equal efficacy to intravenous irinotecan in a number of relevant murine xenograft models. In addition, by providing flexible oral dosing options to the physician, patient-specific treatment strategies can be developed including those low dose regimen shown to be effective in irinotecan refractory CRC. Patient quality of life may be greatly improved by the introduction of oral DDS-06E therapies. We are currently seeking co-development partners.

improved formulation of propofol: We have completed proof of concept on our intravenous platform of our POLYMERIC NANO-DELIVERY SYSTEMS™ (PNDS™) technology with an improved formulation of propofol, a widely used anesthetic administered intravenously. Our formulation using our PNDS™ technology was proven to be just as efficacious as currently marketed products, while providing the added benefit of clear, miscible, lipid and preservative free liquid that does not support bacterial growth.
